Enjoying The Chase – Kirsty Moseley

Kirsty has done it again.

Following what I thought was one of Kirsty’s best books – Nothing Left to Lose, we now go forward a few years and follow Aston and Anna’s best friends, Nate and Rosie. Who coincidentally have an attraction…
Nate is Ashton’s best friend, sexy SWAT agent and complete player. He meets Anna’s friend Rosie and instantly develops an interest for her and planning to get her into bed, like all females that he finds attractive. Rosie on the other hand has sworn off men since her heart was broken and has no intention of letting Nate see the real side of her. Not used to being rejected, Nate makes it his mission to get Rosie into bed by putting on the ‘Nate charm’. Hence the title of the story.

I enjoyed this story, although there wasn’t really as much happening as the book before it. I thought that around halfway through the book, Nate would have to protect Rosie from something and stuck to the guarded hearts theme, but Rosie was actually more than capable of looking after herself. Which I liked. But the story is basically Nate attempting to get Rosie to let him in and slowly developing feelings for her (Not quite a spoiler because obviously it’s what you were all expecting).

I loved Rosie’s character. She seems so confident and witty but I liked how she had her flaws, she was very self conscious and very scared of relationships. The way that she is written at some points you can really tell how torn she is with her feelings.
Nate was another great character. A real cheeky chappy with a sexy SWAT uniform, what more could a reader want? Can I also add that he’s a family man and an all round nice guy…
Readers might hate me for this but I also really loved Rosie’s ex boyfriend, Josh. His character was so complex, I loved to hate him. A lazy man whore who doesn’t see the point in taking responsibilities, treats Rosie like garbage until he meets Nate and sees him as competition. My only issue with Josh is that I would have loved for him and Nate to have a proper punch up…unfortunately, Josh still keeps his perfect face at the end of this story.

Oh…speaking of the end of this story…WOW…I wasn’t expecting that.
I was sat upright on the bus and was so reluctant to get off at my stop because I had to find out what happened!

CAUTION>>>SPOILER
I have a mini complaint about the actual ending too…Kirsty has a real thing for her characters proposing. usually when they have only been together for a matter of months. That usually ruins it for me. I get a bit bored of coming to the end and a twenty year old boy getting down on one knee for them to then have a baby and live happily ever after.
I’m a miserable cow…I don’t like book wedding endings. My only real complaint though.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I kind of had to as it was written by one of my favorite authors, but I would have picked this up had I not known who’d written it.
It’s not my favorite book of Kirsty Moseley’s, but I did enjoy it and find it fun to read. I loved the banter between Nate and Rosie, although Nate’s pick up lines were actually pretty annoying, their relationship was cute.

Nate Peters – Billy Magnussen

Nate is a ladies man with blonde hair and blue eyes…need I say more?

Rosie York – Emma Watson

Anybody my age who lives on this earth knows that Emma Watson can play a fantastic strong female character. I imagine Rosie to be very naturally pretty, hectic life not really giving her the time to sit and spend hours on makeup. Emma is one of those people who I’m amazingly jealous of, where I’m sure that she could quite easily roll out of bed and walk straight onto the red carpet and still look incredible! I think that Emma would make an amazing Rosie York with her smart comments, caring nature and general strength.

Stop – Rebrand!

Hi guys,

You probably think I’ve fallen off the face of the earth as I haven’t posted for a while…
What happened was I finally bought the two Kirsty Moseley books that I haven’t yet read (Enjoying the Chase & One Wild Night). So before I decided to read these I took a trip to memory lane and re-read the first book in this series, Nothing Left To Lose.

These are probably the longest of Kirsty’s books so, in my regular fashion, it’s taken me a while to read them.

While I’ve been absent from WordPress however I’ve been busy…I’ve just started a Facebook Page for this blog so go ahead and follow —>  https://www.facebook.com/worldsslowestreader/

I’ve also made a nice list of books top read once I’ve finished this one, full of brand new Indi authors who are ready to send their books out into the world. They all sound so incredible and different, I cannot wait to read them and tell you all about them.

Finally, I’ve made my logo…probably the worst one in history but I’m happy to say that I’ll no longer need to cover my profile in stock photos.

So, I guess I’ll see you guys when I’ve finished FTBF, check out my Facebook for book promos, conversations and general chatter.

Fighting To Be Free – Kirsty Moseley

FightingToBeFree32_RGB300

Thank you to the publisher of this book for giving me a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I think I’m a little bias here as Kirsty Moseley is easily one of my favorite authors. I became obsessed with her books after reading The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window and fell in love with her slushy romance books. I think there are only two of her books that I haven’t read, excluding Worth Fighting For, the second part of in this series which is released in December.

Fighting To Be Free didn’t disappoint me. It was typical Kirsty Moseley. The first thing that I saw was the cover. Which I thought was beautiful, so simple but still pretty intense. The model on the front is similar to how I’d imagine Jamie Cole to look and the faded background gives it that bleak, outcast kind of effect.

I really enjoyed this book. It was written in the point of view of Jamie Cole, a seventeen year old juvenile who has just been released from a four year prison sentence for murder, and Ellie Pearce, the perfect girl with the perfect life that catches his eye. After years of crime with a well known gang, Jamie now wants to stay on the straight and narrow. He meets Ellie in a nightclub after her best friend has called for a night out following Ellie breaking up with her long term boyfriend Myles. The two share an instant attraction and one thing leads to another.

I really liked both characters in this book. Jamie was a real sweetie and Ellie was loyal and caring, I really rooted for the two from the word go as they were such a cute couple.

To me, Kirsty is known for her romance, and this book was the same. The chemistry between Ellie and Jamie is adorable and the slushy scenes didn’t disappoint. There was also some action in there too. Characters such as Brett and Ray, criminals from Jamie’s past, were very likable. I tend to find in some books that I get bored when reading about something other than the relationship between two main characters, but in this book, it wasn’t the case. I really enjoyed reading about Jamie’s boosts and his relationships with Brett’s gang. It seemed to uncover a little bit about his past each time.

One thing that I really liked about this book was how Jamie was made the vulnerable one. Even in modern day books you still get the damsel in distress character who needs a man to save her. However, even though Jamie is much more capable of looking after both himself and Ellie, he is displayed as the one who needs the help in this book. With a troubled past, it’s being with Ellie that keeps him sane and gives him a reason to work towards an honest life. There are moments in his point of view when he even says ‘I can’t lose her’, ‘I don’t know how I’d get by without her,’ or ‘I need her’. Ellie is definitely the support giver in this story, which I think is really good.

A few of Kirsty Moseley’s books have a theme of abuse in them; The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window and Nothing Left To Lose. This is another book that touches the subject. Although it is mentioned and doesn’t really go into very much detail, I hope that the next book will answer a few more questions I have regarding that.

There wasn’t really anything that I disliked about this book, other than the ENDING!
Kirsty left it at a horrible cliffhanger and I honestly don’t know what to do until the next book, Worth Fighting For is released in December.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It didn’t beat my all time favourite Kirsty book – The Boy Who Sneaks Through My Bedroom Window, but it didn’t disappoint. I was really hooked into this book and seriously cannot wait for the next one.

Jamie Cole – Logan Lerman

600full-logan-lerman

By the way that Jamie’s colleagues describe him as ‘kid’ I imagined him to have a real babyface. Logan Lerman is adorable in the cheeky chappie kind of way which is why I chose him as my Jamie. Just looking at him, you’d understand why Ellie found it so hard to believe his dark past.

Ellie Pearce – Natalie Dormer

Margaery_Tyrell_Valar_Dress

Ellie is a young, fairly well off girl. The first thing that Jamie notices about her is her red hair and grey eyes. Natalie was the first person who came to mind as Ellie for me. Ignore the Game of Thrones clothing. I think that Natalie Dormer is absolutely gorgeous! I can just imagine her doing the confused head tilt that Jamie loves so much.
Although Ellie is only young, I think that Natalie is in her 30s, but she plays a teenager amazingly, I’d put her in this role in a heartbeat.

Coming soon!!!! The next in the series:
Worth Fighting For
