Five Wishes – Elise Sax

Thank you to Angie Hickman for giving me this audiobook free of charge in return for an honest review.

The Five Wishes series is a few different stories that follows different characters as their wishes come true after wishing in a local well.

The Good Stuff

This was a really enjoyable audiobook with different short stories, all very entertaining and easy listens. The characters were all really likable and in my opinion, there wasn’t one dud story.

I got about an hour into the story before I realised that I’d listened to narrator Angie Hickman before when I listened to ‘Tinsel in a Tangle’. She really is a great narrator who really gets you stuck in the story. She really commits to what’s going on with different voices and accents. Probably one of the best authors I’ve listened to.

I think that my favorite story of them all was ‘Just Sacked’. It was quite funny to listen to and at times I did find myself chuckling.

When the story began I thought that maybe there would be far too many characters for me to keep track of, but it wasn’t at all. The stories were so easy to follow and simple enough to not have to completely pay attention. It is really clever how each character of a story is introduced in the one before. I really enjoyed guessing what their story would be when they came into the picture.

Not My Cup of Tea

I really enjoyed this and don’t really have any criticism of it.

Overall Rating

A really cute and fun read. Very entertaining and very well narrated.

The Space Between Us – Alynne Hart

I received this audiobook free of charge in return for an honest review.

A boxer romance with a brother’s best friend/childhood crush genre…two of my favourite types! Alyne Hart definitely doesn’t disappoint with characters like Dean and Emma.

Emma has always had a crush on Dean ever since they were young. He was her brother’s best friend and the school bad boy. After an argument with her brother, Dean left town, now he’s back and is finally starting to notice Emma.

The Good Stuff

This story is very well set. After the first chapter or so you know exactly what’s going on without it having to go into too much detail. I like the settings of the farm, boxing gym and diner, giving familiar surroundings for the reader.

The characters are really easy to like, Emma is a strong-willed character who has given up her dreams to pull her weight in her family and Dean is a bad boy with a great personality. I wanted the two of them to get together from the start and loved the little moments that they shared.

The storyline was gripping throughout and very interesting. I’ve listened to a few stories where Logan McAlister is the narrator and I do like his style.

Not My Cup of Tea

I feel that a bit more could of actually happened in this book. Although it was very interesting there could have been that extra push near the end that made it more exciting. It didn’t completely need it however as I still really enjoyed it.

Overall Rating

I really enjoyed this story. It left a little opening for Emma’s brother’s story maybe…?
I’d definitely read it if that was the case!

Emma – Katherine Langford

Katherine Langford, 13 Reasons Why PHOTO: Yoram Kahana for the HFPA

Katherine Langford was the first to come to mind while listening to this story…maybe because I’ve jumped on the 13 Reasons Why hype, but mainly because she has that same strong willed personality and natural beauty that I imagine Emma to have. She’d really do this role justice.
